Shipping Container Pool FAQ — Australia

Common questions from Australian buyers about shipping container pools, council approval, installation and running costs.

How much does a shipping container pool cost in Australia?

ASCP offers two fixed-price options: 20ft pool from AUD $35,000 and 40ft pool from AUD $55,000, both fully installed Australia-wide. The price includes delivery, crane placement and installation. Site preparation (concrete pad or footings) is additional.

Do I need council approval for a container pool?

Yes. In most Australian states, a swimming pool — including a container pool — requires a council development application (DA) or building permit. Requirements vary by state and local council. ASCP can guide you through what is typically needed in your state. Pool fencing compliant with AS 1926.1 is required Australia-wide.

Can a container pool be installed on a sloping block?

Yes, with the right site preparation. A sloping block may require additional engineering for the concrete pad or footings. ASCP will assess your site and advise at quote stage.

How long does installation take?

In most cases, one day on site. The pool arrives on one truck, a crane lifts it into place, and connections are made the same day. Site preparation before delivery typically takes 1–3 days separately.

What is included in the price?

The all-in price covers the pool structure, filtration system, basic plumbing, crane delivery, installation crew and a 10-year structural warranty. Optional add-ons such as heating, glass walls, lighting and decking are priced separately.

Do you deliver Australia-wide?

Yes. ASCP delivers and installs container pools across all Australian states and territories — including Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania, the ACT and the Northern Territory. Regional and remote delivery is available; contact us for a freight quote.

What are the running costs of a container pool?

Running costs are similar to a comparable fibreglass pool. Typical annual costs include electricity for the pump and filter (around $300–$800/year depending on usage and heating), pool chemicals ($200–$500/year) and occasional servicing. Adding a pool cover significantly reduces heating and chemical costs.

Can the pool be semi-inground or above-ground?

Yes. ASCP pools can be installed fully above-ground, semi-inground or with partial earthworks depending on your site and preferences. Discuss your site conditions with us at quote stage.

Is the pool suitable for coastal or high-humidity areas?

ASCP pools use treated steel with appropriate protective coatings for Australian conditions. Coastal installations are common. Ask us about coating specifications for your specific location.

What warranty is included?

Every ASCP pool comes with a 10-year structural warranty on the steel shell and structure.

Can I get a saltwater chlorinator?

Yes. Saltwater chlorination systems are compatible with ASCP container pools. This is a popular upgrade — ask about it when requesting your quote.
